Bi-fold system & hardware manufacturing

Whether it’s custom systems or intricate components, Debar manufacturing facilities and processes allow us produce quality bi-fold solutions. Through a suite of machinery and processes such as CNC’s and Powder Coating and a commitment to Total Quality Management, our systems and hardware are made to last.

End to End Control

Based in our Bradford headquarters, 100% of core component manufacturing is done in-house, under one roof, unlocking full visibility, faster feedback loops and tighter quality control. This suite of in-house techniques allows for faster turnarounds and responses to customer demands, keeping our lead times reliable, costs competitive, and deliveries consistent for our customers and partners.

Precision Engineering & CNC Technology

Our high-capacity CNC suite, featuring multiple HAAS and HURCO machines, delivers consistent precision in high-volume production. In-house programming enables quick responses to design changes, while Star Auto Lathes provide fully automated, high-quantity turn parts. Modern Haffner Saws ensure exact cutting tolerances for flawless assembly. This advanced machinery allows Debar to maximise efficiency and accuracy, reducing human error while improving consistency. Recently, we added a CNC machine-tending cobot, boosting output, enhancing efficiency, and freeing our skilled team for higher-value work—demonstrating how technology is shaping the future of UK manufacturing.

Automated Powder Coating Facility

Our fully automated Gema 5-Stage coating plant allows for a consistent and modern treatment process, that’s durable and corrosion resistant. Our in-house delivery allows for complete colour flexibility, with any RAL colour available, to suit your custom system and project needs. In addition, the Debar plant’s gas saving system reduces energy use in coating cycles, with closed-loop water filtration to minimise environmental impact.

With complete control, Debar’s powder coating process allows for even coating, consistent quality, bespoke finishes and fast turnarounds, to ensure project success.

Skilled Workforce & Investment in People

Each of our products is manufactured by a dedicated team of bi-fold experts. Debar’s team have decades of hands-on experience, enabling practical problem solving and a deep knowledge of bi-fold hardware, across a wide range of processes. We also invest in the next generation, running structured training programmes and apprenticeships, from CNC Programmers to Maintenance Engineers.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Debar, we’re driven by sustainable practices and committed to the environment. All offcuts of aluminium, cardboard packaging and plastics are recycled, minimising our output, while we’re reducing paper through a widespread digitalisation process. Within our manufacturing facilities, we have implemented LED Lighting, rapid rise shutters for heat retention and smart gas management systems for our powder coating, all to keep our emissions low, while retaining efficiency.

Frequently asked questions

Absolutely. Debar manufactures and exports bi-fold systems and hardware worldwide and has decades of experience supporting fabricators, system houses, and extruders across international markets.

Yes. Debar incorporates sustainable manufacturing practices including aluminium recycling, closed-loop water filtration, LED lighting, heat retention systems, and smart gas management technologies.

Debar primarily supplies the bi-fold door and glazing industry, supporting fabricators, system houses, installers, and extruders worldwide. Our manufacturing processes are ISO 90001 accredited, reinforcing our commitment to producing high-quality bi-fold products. Our bi-fold systems are also PAS 24 certified, meaning they have been independently tested to withstand common methods of forced entry. For our clients, this provides confidence in the security, quality, and performance of their installations.

Replacing bi-fold door hardware is usually a straightforward project carried out by installers. Most systems use similar components, including pivot pins, guide rollers, brackets, and tracks.

Basic steps:

  1. Remove the door panels:
Lift the doors slightly and disengage the pivot pins from the brackets and track.
  2. Inspect the hardware:
Check for worn or damaged parts such as:
    • Top pivot pins
    • Guide rollers
    • Bottom pivots
    • Track brackets
    • Door aligners
  3. Match replacement parts:
Use the existing hardware measurements or model number to find compatible replacements.
  4. Install the new hardware:
Replace the damaged components and ensure all brackets and pivots are securely fitted.
  5. Rehang and adjust the doors:
Reinsert the doors into the track system and adjust the pivot points until the doors open and close smoothly.
  1. Positioning the first packers – start in the bottom corner of the first panel that is hinged to the jamb. Then place the first packer on the bottom rail.
  2. Adding the glazing – place the glass in the door, sitting it firmly on top of the packer at the bottom. Then place more packers in the same corner along the vertical style, then place packers on the style and rail in the opposite corner.

Once corners are in, place supporting packers. Repeat this on the remainder of the doors, adding the packers on alternate corners.

  1. Installing the beads and gaskets – always start with the top and bottom bead to properly secure the glass. Once done, we’d advise that you check the door can’t catch and operates smoothly.

To install the gaskets, cut them to perfectly match the size of the top and bottom of the door and then slide it into place. The best way to do this is by starting in a corner and working your way across the centre to the opposite side.

  1. Finalise the process – Simply repeat these same steps for each individual door frame and then the entire toe and heel process will be finished and the weight from the glass will be properly distributed and adjusted.

Absolutely. Debar manufactures and exports bi-fold systems and hardware worldwide and has decades of experience supporting fabricators, system houses, and extruders across international markets.
